Never giving up saves your life.
A missing Florida mother was heard banging on the locked door of a shipping container after a co-worker reported her missing, police said.
Marilyn Lopez, 52, was found trapped in a shipping container next to a business on Cocoa Boulevard, the Cocoa Police Department said in a statement on Facebook.
NBC News reports,
She was last seen Monday at her home and was reported missing Wednesday after a co-worker called police and said she failed to pick up her son, according to authorities.
He added: “During the investigations, detectives were notified that the woman had been found. The police said that she was knocking on the door of the shipping container when someone heard her and opened the door.
Tyler Sonnenberg, who owns the shipping container, told local station WKMG he first saw Lopez walking around the area on Monday. He said he closed the container, which is used to store lawn mowers, on Tuesday afternoon and did not hear any noise on Wednesday, according to the news station.
Sonnenberg said he believes Lopez entered the unit alone and lost consciousness. He told the station that he was not wrong for Lopez to remain inside the container.
Police said they are still investigating how Lopez got inside the container.
According to the WKGM report, in addition to assessing her for possible dehydration, the department said she was not injured.
Lopez's family last saw her on Monday, and she was reported missing after a co-worker called her to report that she had not picked up their son, police said.
“Investigators responded and began checking known locations, interviewing family members, and issued a missing persons bulletin. During the investigation, detectives were notified that the woman had been found. She was banging on the door of a shipping container when someone heard her and opened the door,” the department said.
This could have ended very badly, and it's nice to see a happy ending.
