Severe weather watch training begins today in West Michigan. Here is the schedule:
Go to weather.gov/grr/spottertraining for more detailed information. I hope to make it to the meetings in Hudsonville on 3/28 and Muskegon on 4/27. I have a birthday party to go to today for a boy who is very interested in the weather, so I won't be attending meetings today.
It's fun to chat with other weather experts, and there's always some interesting new information about severe storms. With El Niño over and La Niña likely, we should see a fairly active severe weather season in the United States this year. (Top photo is the Hudsonville/Stendhal Hurricane of April 3, 1956. This was the strongest hurricane anywhere in the world that year.)
