When it comes to a potential change in Bayern Munich's squad, Joshua Kimmich's name usually comes up quickly. The German international still has a contract in Munich until 2025 and there is ongoing speculation surrounding him. Now Kimmich himself has spoken about his future.
“I still have more than a year left on my contract, and no one has spoken to me yet. I'm relieved,” Kimmich said after the match at the Allianz Arena.
The 29-year-old continued: “For me, it's about showing my performance, that's the most important thing. Then we'll see what happens.”
When asked if he felt comfortable at Bayern Munich, he replied: “Yes! And in Munich too. It's not that bad here.”
Therefore, it seems that Kimmich does not mind extending his contract with Bayern.
Recently, there have been rumors about his possible departure. Since he could leave on a free transfer when his contract expires after next season, Bayern will have to consider selling the Germany international this summer if they cannot agree an extension. New sporting director Max Eberl has already announced that he wants to make Kimmich's future a top priority. “I'll sit with him,” Eberle said.
According to Kimmich's statement, it is clear that this has not happened yet, even though Eberle has only been in office since March 1.
Several top European clubs have already been linked with Kimmich. Barcelona, Manchester City and Liverpool are said to be interested in signing Kimmich. Recently, there have also been reports of Arsenal Football Club being interested in the player.
