“This was not the State of the Union address.”
Many commentators concluded that Joe Biden's State of the Union address to Congress this week was merely a campaign speech, as he bragged about things he had not accomplished and deliberately attacked his would-be opponent, President Donald Trump, along with broad swaths of Americans who support Trump. .
But Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center and an investigative journalist and writer who focuses on the radical left and Islamic terrorism, goes further.
“This was not a State of the Union address, but a fascist campaign rally of the kind he has been giving for years, most disturbingly when he was surrounded by Marines at Independence Hall before the 2022 midterm elections, declaring war on Trump, Republicans and all of them.” Political opponents.”
Biden talked about some of the developments in the country during his term, claiming economic success, even though inflation under his policies has already reached 18%.
But he spent most of his speech threatening the US Supreme Court and all Americans if they chose a political path that did not include him and his pro-abortion and pro-transgender ideologies.
In a FrontPageMag column, Greenfield spoke directly about his concerns.
“Joseph Robinette Biden began his final State of the Union address by invoking Franklin Roosevelt. But while Biden faces as much trouble as Franklin Roosevelt, he has not led a nation out of a depression, but into one, and he has not won a war, but he has lost several. “Including a personal war with his style and teleprompter in the State of the Union address.”
He noted the length of Biden's speech, which is the eighth longest speech ever recorded.
“The only reason it didn't take longer is because Biden jumped the gun, muttering and stammering words, and making threats and insults with a speed that made them impossible to understand,” he said.
He continued: “A few breaths later after implicitly comparing himself to Roosevelt during World War II, Biden compared himself to Lincoln during the Civil War (“Not since President Lincoln and the Civil War have freedom and democracy been as assaulted here at home as they are today.”) Then-President Reagan before launching an attack on President Trump. The State of the Union address is not a place to attack opposing candidates. Bush did not criticize Kerry in his State of the Union address, and even Obama did not mention Romney in his speech. However, Biden attacked Trump a few minutes after meeting him. Then I did it again. and again.”
He criticized Biden for making what should be “this year’s presidential review” into “partisan, muddled hate speech.”
The result, he said, was “the rattles of a grumpy old man.”
He pointed out that Biden insists that America has an economy that is “the envy of the world” and inflation that is “the lowest in the world.” These allegations were at the bottom of the page from the beginning of his speech.
Why didn't Biden start bragging about these amazing accomplishments? Why did he bury them in the middle of his speech? “Because not only are they lies, but no one believes them.”
He then said that Biden started “promising free stuff,” but noted that “with a national debt of $34 trillion, there's no money for any of that or any of his other promises. We're on track to get $1 trillion in interest payments.” annually thanks to his previous generous spending.
Biden attacked conservatives, Israel, Trump and others.
“Biden has violated the most basic rules of decency in the union. He gave a speech he wasn't supposed to be allowed to give. This should have been closed during this time. Presidents give these addresses as guests of Congress. As a guest, Biden insulted his hosts, drew curtains and tried to encapsulate his partisan aversion by name-dropping and flag-dropping.
What does Biden's vision for America's future depict?
“The future looks like a senile president arriving at the State of the Union address to launch scathing attacks on opposition, destroy political norms, suggest that a new civil war is imminent, threaten the Supreme Court, and define all forms of dissent as a dangerous form of power.” betrayal.”
