The new season of the VYZOV National Prize for Future Technologies has been expanded by introducing the Discovery category. This category aims to promote innovation and scientific progress in Nigeria and other countries.
According to the organizers, with the addition of this category, scientists from all countries can now participate. This was revealed at a recent press conference held at the World Youth Festival in the Sirius Federal District of Russia.
Leonid Shlyakover, President of the VYZOV Foundation for the Development of Scientific and Cultural Relations, said: We have pushed all boundaries for our award, welcoming scientists from all over the world. We aim to promote open and honest international dialogue in science based on the principles of trust and cooperation.
“This year, we made an important decision. We erased all borders for our award. We are now open to the whole world,” he added.
Dmitry Zaurs, Vice Chairman of Gazprombank, commented on why companies need to support basic scientific discoveries: “The VYZOV Prize is an example of a completely new relationship between big science and big business.
“Such interaction is often based on quick results and quick benefits. However, we see our mission as supporting basic science, and in finding now the future technologies that will become part of our daily lives in the next decade or two.”
Organizers explained that the VYZOV National Future Technologies Prize aligns with Russia's Science and Technology Decade to highlight ideas and inventions that drive scientific progress. The prize value is 50 million rubles, and applications can be submitted online through the official VYZOV website.
