Odessa: A Russian missile missed the Ukrainian president and Greek prime minister by hundreds of meters on Wednesday when it struck port infrastructure in the Black Sea city of Odessa.

“It seems to me that we not only heard, but witnessed this strike today,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said at a press conference alongside Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The sources said that the attack occurred at an estimated distance of 500 to 800 meters from the delegations.

A large explosion echoed throughout the Ukrainian port city as Zelensky and Kyriakos Mitsotakis finished a tour of the war-torn southern city.

Mitsotakis said the delegations were riding in their cars when they heard the explosion, which he described as a “clear reminder” that Odessa is reeling from war with Russia.

Mitsotakis told reporters that the strike fell “very close” to the convoy.

Mitsotakis said that hearing about war is one thing, but experiencing war firsthand is another.

“You see who we're dealing with, they don't care where they hit,” Zelensky said.

Dmytro Pletinchuk, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, told the national news agency Ukrinform that the intended target was Odessa port infrastructure. He added that five people were killed.
