Speculating on the rumors surrounding professional wrestling is a favorite pastime for many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being spread by the professional wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just rumours. None of this has been confirmed as fact, but rather is being circulated throughout the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track the accuracy of rumors in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back which you can find here. Remember, take everything with a grain of salt.
Today's rumors:
- Sting was one of the “only dissenting voices” within AEW when it came to him winning his last match at Revolution, according to SI's Justin Barrasso. Sting wanted the Young Bucks to win because he held them in “extremely high regard,” but “it simply wasn't going to happen.” [Tony] Khan and the Bucks firmly believe that Sting should end his career with a victory.
- The SI report also covered Darby Allin's spot on the glass, and the special safety measures taken for it such as planning and practicing it with the stunt coordinator and having doctors nearby during the match. Barrasso also wrote that “there was a Plan B with a different ending in this event [Allin] It is not possible to return to the match, which turned out to be nothing more than a precautionary measure.”
- While they were there to support Sting, PW Insider said that DDP and Lex Luger did not appear on the Revolution broadcast due to their contractual obligations with WWE.
- According to Venues Now, AEW Revolution attracted 16,118 fans and generated more than $1 million in total ticket sales.
- In addition to his comments about Vince McMahon at the Morgan Stanley Technology Media & Telecom conference this week, TKO president Mark Shapiro also revealed that the company's talks with Netflix were initially about WWE NXT.
- Shapiro also said that Peacock's deal for the domestic rights to the WWE PLEs is “underpriced,” especially considering they are “delivering tremendously” and exceeding the expectations of Peacock owner NBCUniversal. He says Netflix, Apple and others have inquired about the rights, which will reappear in 2026.
- Matt Hardy's contract in AEW is set to expire next month, according to Fightful Select.
