The second annual competition invites innovators to collaborate and accelerate the development of more sustainable products

Lausanne, Switzerland and San Jose, California, March 7, 2024(BUSINESS WIRE)–Logitech International (SIX: LOGN) (Nasdaq: LOGI) recently announced that its second annual Positive Future Challenge is now accepting applications for the 2024 season. The challenge is looking around the world for entrepreneurs, startups, and companies to help accelerate the development of more products. Sustainability in the consumer electronics industry. Logitech's ongoing collaborative efforts to identify and scale real-world solutions not only help accelerate the company's design for sustainability capabilities, but also help reduce the current hurdles the industry faces in rapid, low-carbon solutions.

“Creative innovation and breakthroughs are integral to developing low-carbon impact technologies in the consumer electronics sector,” said Prakash Arunkundrum, Chief Operating Officer at Logitech. “By harnessing a global community of entrepreneurs and change-makers challenging what is possible today, the Logitech Positive Future Challenge aims to reshape the way electronic devices will be manufactured in the future.”

Logitech continually seeks next-generation materials, components and processes to accelerate design capabilities for sustainability. However, the solutions needed to reduce carbon rates are either not widely available today or require investment to achieve the desired results in the future. In the consumer electronics industry, there is a need to improve printed circuit boards, find alternative energy storage solutions, and develop alternative materials that reduce waste and are sourced from renewable sources to support recycling and carbon reduction goals.

The 2024 Positive Future Challenge includes six categories to make the biggest impact in the consumer electronics industry:

    • Printed circuit boards: New solutions use lower-impact materials and energy-efficient processes in the design and production of circuit boards that have traditionally impacted the environment.

    • Batteries: New solutions such as those containing alternative materials to lithium or cobalt and battery recycling technologies.

    • Integrated circuits: Making improvements to the semiconductor chip manufacturing process or improving production yields leading to reduced carbon emissions.

    • Material: Alternatives that reduce weight, increase strength, reduce carbon footprint, and are renewable or biodegradable.

    • Packaging: Solutions that aim to protect products while reducing environmental impact such as moldable materials, renewable or recyclable materials, and alternatives to foil printing.

    • Business models: Ideas for improving the structure of supply chains or programs that encourage a circular or collaborative economy for the technology industry.

Applications are now open until March 31, 2024. Startups that want to scale their business while disrupting a multi-billion-dollar industry are encouraged to apply on the online portal designed in partnership with Tech Tour. This year's distinguished jury includes leaders in sustainability and manufacturing, including experts from Logitech, BASF, Sony, Samsung, Swatch Group and more. The selection process includes a series of demo sessions and workshops designed to identify partners with promising and scalable solutions for integration with Logitech products.

For a list of 2023 award winners and to learn more about the 2024 Future Positive Challenge and how to apply, visit the Logitech website or email futurepositive@logitech.com.
