Effingham, Illinois-(Radio Effingham)- Severe storm monitors are a vital part of the severe weather warning process. Spotters provide important, and potentially life-saving, information to their communities and surrounding locations — and to National Weather Service (NWS) forecasters who use the reports to help issue warnings and keep the public informed during severe weather events.

We welcome anyone interested in attending the monitoring course. There is no cost for this training – only 2.5 hours of your time for the class. The Weather Spotters Training Class is designed for people who are new to spotting severe storms, as well as those who need refresher training. Training consists of all the information spotters need to be effective and stay safe.

Pre-registration is not required. If you have questions, please call (217) 540-1669.
