Montreal announces its new album “Lady on the Cusp” and releases a new song

Kevin Barnes explained that the new song was “influenced by Leos Carax's 'Boy Meets Girl', Bootsy's Rubber Band, and my recent purchase of a Yamaha TG33 and a Kawai K1M”. “I wanted to make a sexy, strutting little vamp of a song that kind of sounds and feels relaxed, fun and free.”

Madeleine added: “There's a certain 1960s experimental spirit to Barnes' songwriting which I love, and by using analog techniques of paper cutting and channeling it directly into an animated film, I pay tribute to that. The film's paper-cut animation and color palette are deeply inspired by Larry Jordan's experimental animation, most notably his film Year 1968 Lady of the field“.
