Mayor Helmin J. Kapaa leads a strong team for the future of Perth Amboy
PERTH AMBOY, NJ (5/3/2024) – Mayor Helmen J. Kaba, along with incumbent Councilwoman Rose P. Morales and School Board President Stacy Peralta, have officially announced their candidacy for the upcoming municipal election, signaling a continued commitment to the progress of Perth Amboy.
Under Mayor Cappa's leadership, Perth Amboy has experienced remarkable public safety and fiscal discipline, driving economic development and strengthening the city's infrastructure. “Our administration has set a new standard for the future of Perth Amboy,” said Mayor Cappa. “We have reached a historic high in our public safety staffing and capabilities, which has contributed to a sustained decline in crime rates. These accomplishments reflect our effective public safety strategies and our commitment to a safer city.”
Mayor Capa's administration has also played a pivotal role in achieving financial stability, earning Perth Amboy an A+ credit rating from S&P. This fiscal discipline has enabled the city to pursue significant redevelopment projects without raising taxes in 2021, 2022 and 2024. Additionally, Mayor Capa emphasized transformative community and environmental initiatives, including the restoration of Roddick Park and the remediation of Celotex. These projects reflect the Administration's focus on improving the quality of life in Perth Amboy, expanding the Special Improvement District through strategic investments, and incorporating smart technologies (Wi-Fi and charging stations) into our parks without imposing additional tax burdens on residents.
As the Department Coordinator for the Middlesex County College Department of Dental Hygiene and a dedicated union member, Councilwoman Morales brings a unique blend of professional skills, business perspective and strategic project management to her duties on the Council. Her union membership adds a valuable dimension to her understanding of workers' rights and community needs, enhancing her contributions to Perth Amboy's redevelopment efforts. Since January 2021, Morales has played an active role in ensuring the success of projects beneficial to the community, demonstrating her dedication to public service and her ability to effectively manage and participate in local government. “I am committed to continuing our progress and shaping a future in which every Perth Amboy resident thrives,” Morales said.
Stacy Peralta's extensive professional background uniquely positions her as an ideal member of the Perth Amboy Council. Since 2017, as Director of Preschool at the Puerto Rico Society for Human Development, she has demonstrated leadership in staff management, budget control, and program development, with an emphasis on educational excellence and compliance with state and Board of Education policies. Her tenure as President of the Perth Amboy Board of Education since January 2022 demonstrates her ability for policy formulation, strategic decision-making and community engagement. These roles, her practical teaching experience, and her success with grant applications highlight her comprehensive approach to educational and community development. “My goal is to leverage my experience to address the broader challenges facing our city and ensure Perth Amboy thrives for everyone,” Peralta said.
“As the 2024 election approaches, I am eager to continue the transformative work we have begun, and advance our accomplishments in Perth Amboy,” said Mayor Cappa. “Together with my list, we can ensure a prosperous and prosperous future for all who call Perth Amboy home.”
