Culpepper Star Ace
Civil War historian Clark B. Hall conducted a two-day intensive history training, Feb. 24-25, around the Brandy Station countryside for future tour guides with Culpeper Battlefield Tours.
The group visited troop crossing sites on the Rappahannock River as well as Buford Knoll, Kelly's Ford, Farley, Rose Hill and other historic sites related to the Civil War engagement of June 9, 1863. The Battle of Brandy Station was the largest cavalry battle on North American soil.
The still-preserved battlefield is slated to be part of the future Battlefields State Park, which will open this summer in Culpeper County. It would also include Cedar Mountain Battlefield, south of the city along the James Madison Highway.
