According to a poll conducted by The New York Times in collaboration with Siena College, even Biden's supporters are concerned about his age. This escalates what has become a serious threat to his re-election campaign.
Liberal voters appear to be coming to terms with President Biden's inability to hold a conversation, with a majority of voters who supported him in 2020 concerned that he is too old to lead effectively.
The New York Times reported,
The poll indicated a fundamental shift in how voters who supported Biden four years ago view it. 61% said they believe he is “too old” to be an effective president.
A larger percentage of people were more concerned: Nineteen percent of those who voted for Biden in 2020, and 13 percent of those who said they would support him in November, said the 81-year-old president's age was such a problem that he could no longer Coping with the task.
Doubts about Biden's age span across generations, gender, race and education, underscoring the president's failure to allay fears within his party and Republican attacks that portray him as senile. 73% of all registered voters said he was too old to be effective, and 45% believed he could not do the job.
Growing doubts about. Biden, who has been visible in polls and quiet conversations with Democratic officials, is on the rise as he advances toward the official nomination.
He was surveyed just weeks after heightened scrutiny of his age in early February, when a special adviser described him in a report as “a well-intentioned elderly man with a weak memory” and “faculties diminishing with age.”
Previous polls suggest that voters' reservations about Mr. Biden's age have increased over time. In six battleground states polled in October, 55% of those who voted for him in 2020 said they thought he was too old to be an effective president, a sharp increase from the 16% of Democrats who shared that concern in a slightly different group. Voters did not express the same concerns about Donald J. Trump, who at 77 is just four years younger than Biden. A potential rematch would make them the oldest presidential candidates in history.
If re-elected, Mr. Biden would break his record as the oldest president in office, while Mr. Trump would be the second-oldest president if he wins. Mr. Trump will be 82 years old at the end of the term, and Mr. Biden will be 86 years old.
It doesn't take a poll to find out that voters from 2020 aren't excited about four more years of Biden. Anyone can browse any social media app and find disgruntled 2020 Biden voters.
