Storms are likely through Tuesday morning and then warmer days are in the forecast for New Orleans
There are likely to be strong and possibly severe storms with the possibility of heavy rain during tonight
Exciting. aptly. KENDALL WDSU FIRST WEATHER WARNING FOR ALERT DAY BECAUSE A FLASH FLOOD WARNING WAS JUST ISSUED. It has been upgraded from a flood warning here in New Orleans. We'll go in and show you the recommended area that has now been upgraded to warning level. Let's stop with the Doppler radar. And here he is. All surrounding this red one, which is located directly across the central part of New Orleans from the central business district. When you move a little further east, the water reaches here as well. Let's get closer here and show you exactly where the heaviest rain is falling from Chalmette live via our Doppler radar. But the western bank of Terrytown MARRERO also experiences very heavy rainfall to Algiers and Algiers Point. But you can see that the storm is still heading south from here. When I move, that's why you get this warning that will last until tonight. This is 745, because we may have more storms to the south. Move on the same area. The Belle Chasse area was one of the areas with the highest rainfall totals to date. Let's get to the here and now and show you the North Shore. We've also gotten some strong storms. A while ago, a HAIL was reported on the highway. Right now, this is a dual range that may not be the best to reach. In fact, almost all the roads leading to the North Shore, to and from south to north, are seeing some heavy rain right now. But the worst thing to see over Slidell is that we are heading towards Lake Bourne, the sound of the Mississippi. We have more storms out there, but that's what worries me. If we can find those storms moving north and causing more rain here, that's the bigger problem. In the largest position. So let's see. Doppler radar how it matches up with our latest TUM short forecast data. They line up well. It depicts that we got the rain that is here. I mean it's not quite mine, but it does a pretty good job. It still shows through this evening. The North Shore may get the worst of those storms that are actually to our west and moving from west to east, but that's what I don't like to see. It is the evening and night hours. There is still more potential for storms, which are very severe in nature all the way into the early morning hours and the final round as we wake up tomorrow morning. This means commuting in the morning, going to work, and getting the kids to school. This could be another wet one too. We're not quite done with these storms until we get into Tuesday afternoon. Terrytown now ranks with the highest rainfall totals at roughly 1 in 3 quarters of an inch. Rhysland had some rain too, but look at Mandeville. We have accumulated some rain very quickly with the North Shore storms. Very heavy rain locally. The flood situation is the biggest deal in terms of impact. You're through tonight. Level 2 threat for heavy rainfall out of four. We are now warm enough, moist enough, and have enough circulation in the atmosphere. There's a very low chance an isolated storm could come in with hail, but there's also a chance it could get some rotation. In fact, there is weak hail in a weak hurricane. There are still significant threats to look out for, but the heavy rainfall has not fully resolved until we get through tomorrow. So we have level two threats, both tonight and even tomorrow as well. Arriving on Tuesday. We have some heavy fog to wake up and get going during those morning hours. This will be mainly for lakes and round bodies of water in the coast. Now we are still very moderate. Tomorrow morning, we'll start out in the 60s, but be prepared to allow extra time for fog, residual rain, and storms that don't quite let up until we get into the afternoon. There is a chance we will get some sun come late in the day. Just warms us enough and we can push into the mid 70s. It might be a bit optimistic. We're really not going to drop below 60 because we're going to hold there until Wednesday morning. We have 50s, 60s and another round of fog possibilities. This could be a little more widespread and a little worse, but it's better if the news comes Wednesday through Thursday. There is a lot of sunshine coming back into our forecast. These two days may be among our warmest days. We came back after a while with 80 degree temperatures. SO WDSU first weather warning, seven-day forecast. We've got that the first weather warning from WDSU for tonight will impact tomorrow, as we're finally done with the rain. Then a cold Friday ahead of me. Watch as we head into the weekend
