In an interview on “60 Minutes” with Cecilia Vega, former US Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz revealed that throughout his time working under the Biden regime, he never spoke with Joe Biden or Kamala Harris regarding the escalating border crisis.
Ortiz, who served as chief from August 2021 until May 2023 and was vice chief under President Trump, recently retired after more than three decades at the agency.
During the interview, a visibly frustrated Ortiz expressed concerns about operational challenges and policy decisions affecting border security.
“When agencies make a decision based on politics or whether it's going to get media coverage, we're going to put all of our staff in that two-mile stretch. What about the other 200 miles? What about the other 200 miles? I'm not going to get it,” Ortiz said while attacking Abbott.
Ortiz expressed frustration with the Biden regime's handling of border security, highlighting the lack of direct communication with senior White House officials.
I never had a single conversation with the president. Or the vice president for that matter. And so I was the head of the border guards. I ordered 21,000 people. “That's a problem,” Ortiz said.
In 2021, Biden appointed Kamala Harris as border official to lead efforts to stop illegal migration across the US-Mexico border.
In the short period since Kamala Harris took charge of the crisis at the border, half a million people have crossed illegally into America. This number is absolutely staggering, and it is increasing every day.
Ortiz also touched on the challenges the Border Patrol faces, including the need for better cooperation with Central and South American countries and Mexico to manage the flow of migrants. He criticized the conflicting messages the White House is sending to would-be immigrants, which he believes has contributed to the crisis.
The interview took place just four miles south of Shelby Park, an area marked by signs of recent migrant crossings, including wet clothes left behind by individuals who crossed the river. Ortiz stressed the calculated nature of these crossings, organized by the cartels that control the Mexican side of the border.

Meanwhile, when confronted by reporters recently about taking executive action to secure the border, Joe Biden claimed he lacked the authority to do so.
A reporter asked Joe Biden why he was waiting to take executive action to secure the border after border funding bills stalled in Congress.
Democrats rejected House Speaker Mike Johnson's border bill, and Senate foreign aid bill Mike Johnson rejected.
Biden facilitated the unprecedented border invasion. He took 94 executive actions in his first 100 days in office to weaken border security.
Since then, millions of military-age men from Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and China have invaded the United States.
Now he is lying about his executive powers.
Why are you waiting for enforcement action at the border? a reporter asked Biden.
Biden absurdly claimed he did not have the authority to do anything to secure the border.
“We need more troops on the border! I don't have the authority to do this!” Biden shouted.
