LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The NAHB International Builders Show has stopped in Las Vegas and is here to stay.

“The show has really gotten so big that only Las Vegas can host us,” said Jim Tobin, president and CEO of the National Association of Home Builders.

Starting in 2027, the show will be held only in Las Vegas. Expo 2025 will be held here while Expo 2026 will be held in Orlando, Florida.

The exhibition attracts tens of thousands of visitors and hundreds of exhibitors. This year is expected to be its largest conference since 2009.

“We're at a show like this because that's where the builders are. Builders are putting technology and products into the home because it will make them sell homes faster and for more money,” Deako founder and CEO Derek Richardson explained.

Its smart lighting system for new homes and renovations makes it easy to switch switches, control when lights turn on and off, and pair with security systems.

“You can think of the classic Home Alone movie where Kevin was turning the lights on and off for good measure, which is something you could easily do with an automated system,” Richardson said.

He added that the best way to deter criminals from your home is to make it feel occupied, which you can do with its lighting system.

Tobin said that the most important thing at this year's conference is artificial intelligence, and this is just the beginning of learning about its uses.

“Technology is taking more and more out of the home. Light switches are triggered by an iPad or motion sensors. Security has become paramount,” he explained.

The exhibition continues until Thursday and its impact on the local economy is estimated at one billion dollars.
