according to turizmus.comThe famous Palace of Culture in Marosvásárhely was opened on Thursday. The restoration and renovation work took four years, and thanks to this, one of the most beautiful monuments in Transylvania can shine in its original glory.
The Art Nouveau palace on the city's main square is a highlight of Marosvásárhely. Ferenc Peter, president of the Maros County Association, said that the project required extreme care not to damage the building in any way.
Building the palace was the dream of Marosvasareli Mayor Gyorgy Bernady, who led the city between 1902-1912 and 1926-1929. Mr. Peter said that their mission is to preserve and renovate it to meet the requirements of this era. Interestingly, the work was funded by the County Council and the European Union. European Union support amounted to 1.2 million euros of the project cost of 2.2 million euros.

He said they should fill the palace with intimate performances. He also expressed his hope that the building would remain in place even after a hundred years.
Bolcho Eotvos Kobani, director of the Maros County Museum, said the palace has been serving cultural purposes for 111 years. Now, it shines in its former glory once again.
The palace is considered by art historians to be one of the masterpieces of modern art in Central Europe. Even Viennese newspapers praised its beauty at the time.
The building houses a museum, library and philharmonic orchestra.
The subcontractor renovated the main facades of the building along with its roofs. They replaced the broken tiles with products from Zsolnay Porcelain in Pécs, the original supplier. In the Mirror Room they renovated the interior and repaired the organ. The stained glass windows depict Szekler's epics and legends.
