DENVER, Colorado – StarkWare, the developer behind the layer 2 network Starknet, announced Thursday at ETHdenver that it is building a new cryptographic proofreader called Stwo.
The prover is a key component of the second layer, as it creates proofs that are then published on the underlying layer of the blockchain – a crucial process in connecting networks and sharing security. With a faster prover, transaction processing costs should be lower, which will actually also lower fees for users and speed up transactions, according to the StarkWare team.
In August, Stark Ware Open source like its current counterpart, known as stone. The new proverb “Stwo” gets its name from a combination of Stone and Two, and anyone will be able to play it as well as inspect its code base, according to a press release seen by CoinDesk.
Starknet threads that currently use Stone will reap the benefits of the Stwo installer, according to StarkWare.
This news comes just one week after the launch of StarkWare and Polygon Circle Starks announceda new type of cryptographic proof designed to make transactions faster and cheaper for zero-knowledge sets.
Circle STARKS will be implemented in Stwo, helping to “supercharge Ethereum by generating proofs more efficiently,” Oren Katz, COO of StarkWare, said in a press release.
“It is particularly exciting that just one week after the new Circle STARK protocol was announced as a theoretical breakthrough, this protocol has already come to life with the development of this extremely fast theorem,” Katz said.
