The journey towards 6G
Much of the discussions at MWC will revolve around 5G and the crucial role it plays in enhancing connectivity – especially as the industry moves towards 6G development.
While 5G dominates mobile broadband and represents a significant portion of global connectivity, MWC organizer GSMA points out that there is still an ongoing journey to monetize 5G investments.
Major industry players such as AT&T and Ericsson are collaborating to deploy Ericsson Cloud RAN technology on AT&T's commercial 5G network – aiming to increase its network activation. Likewise, Fujitsu is set to unveil new AI-powered applications to combat the complexity of 5G networks, as well as GIGABYTE's new AI and 5G visions.
Other leading organizations such as Dell Technologies, AMD, Amdocs and RedHat will also be in attendance to talk about how AI will continue to power the future.
2023 saw the first appearance of Generation AI at MWC, and 2024 is expected to see companies begin to fully reap the benefits of the technology. As 5G development moves toward cloud-native architectures, the integration of cloud and edge assets will become essential for enterprises to meet user demands.
With this in mind, organizations participating in the event are keen to capture the conversations surrounding cloud technology versus edge technology and how the two can actually be combined to best benefit business development. Schneider Electric and NTT are among some of the companies that will discuss today the best way to deploy AI at the edge.
