Keith Richards has shared a cover of Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground's song “I'm Waiting for the Man.” It is part of the upcoming compilation Heart Power: A Tribute to Lou Reed, which features performances of Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground songs by artists including Angel Olsen, The Afgan Whigs, Joan Jett, Lucinda Williams, Rufus Wainwright, Rosanne Cash, and Ricky Lee Jones. Out April 20 via Light in the Attic, Heart Power: A Tribute to Lou Reed It was produced by Bill Bentley, who had a close working relationship with Reid for over 25 years. “There are many moments when Lou Reed's spirit still rushes through me like the warm wind on a still day,” Bentley wrote. “It might be a particular chord I heard, a word spoken in his distinct New York accent, or even just a fleeting memory of the way he smiled when he was happy followed by a restrained chatter that confirmed that all was well in Reid's world… The spirit is there, undiminished by wisdom.” A worldly peace he never stopped seeking.
