Mitch McConnell announced Wednesday that he will step down as Senate Minority Leader in November.
Also on Wednesday, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. proposed his replacement: Rand Paul.
“Part of public service is knowing when it's time to start a new generation,” the independent presidential candidate previously wrote on Twitter. “It is time to strengthen leaders in Washington, D.C., who will not pander to military contractors or push us deeper into foreign conflicts.”

“Rand Paul will be an amazing successor.”
Kennedy concluded, “We need a representative who prioritizes American wellness over everything else. I think @RandPaul will be a great successor.”
“He has demonstrated great judgment and a determination to put hardworking Americans first,” he concluded.
That's quite the endorsement, especially since Rand and Bobby agree on some precious topics.
Mediate reported that McConnell, one of the Senate's oldest members at 82, announced he would resign as Senate Minority Leader on Wednesday, just one day after he was questioned by a reporter about why he had not yet resigned. He supported the presidential campaign of former President Donald Trump.
“One of life's most underappreciated gifts is knowing when it's time to move on to the next chapter of life,” McConnell said in a speech. “So I stand before you today, my colleagues, to say that this will be my last term as Republican Leader of the Senate.

Earlier this month, Paul accused his fellow Kentucky Republican of “criminal negligence” over his support for sending “$100 billion abroad to fix another nation's borders before dealing with our own.”
“The Senate leadership under Mitch McConnell is more interested in sending your money to Ukraine than invading the southern border, and I've had enough,” Paul complained. “I will do everything I can to slow down and stop this.”
Paul is not wrong. McConnell partnered with Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to craft a bill earlier this month that would have sent billions more to Ukraine and largely failed to address the chaos on America's southern border.
