Tourism and Public Works Minister Mohammad Riyas unveiled the inaugural Kerala Technology Expo (KTX) 2024 at the Calicut Mall, marking an important milestone in Kozhikode's journey towards becoming a technology hub. The three-day event, organized under the Calicut Innovation and Technology Initiative (CITI), brought together more than 3,000 participants, showcased pioneering technologies and fostered discussions on the future of innovation.
Transforming Kozhikode into a technology destination
In his inaugural address, Mr. Riyas highlighted the State government's commitment to invest Rs 1,200 crore in innovative tourism and technology projects in Kozhikode, with the aim of transforming the city into a premier destination by 2030. He envisioned KTX as an annual event that will strengthen the city's technology ecosystem, providing a platform to showcase Local innovations and attracting global talent.
Highlighting digital innovation and growth
The first day of the exhibition witnessed discussions on various technological developments, including digital transformation, the role of creative technologies in immersive experiences, and the impact of digital payments and 3D printing on the industry. The exhibition, which featured 121 booths representing 142 companies, highlighted sectors such as robotics, artificial intelligence, metaverse, and virtual reality, illustrating the city's diverse technology landscape.

The release of CITI's booklet, 'From Spice Trade to Triumph of Technology' emphasized the evolution of Kozhikode city from a historic trading hub to a thriving technological powerhouse. This document, along with the diverse group of exhibitors and enthusiastic participation of attendees, symbolizes the city's ambition and willingness to embrace technological progress and innovation.
