A somewhat subjective assessment of today's weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.

6/10: Hey, it's leap day: the gray skies are gone, but the cold temperatures are here to our dismay.

    • today: Mainly sunny and gusty breezes. Highest: from 43 to 49.
    • Tonight: Clear, calm wind. Lowest: 26 to 32.
    • tomorrow: Increasing clouds, light breeze. Highest: from 47 to 53.

Our brief taste of spring is over, but the sun is stronger these days and burns off the cold before long. Another round of rain Friday night into Saturday morning drenches gardens, before the 60s return on Sunday and Monday to help open the daffodils.

today is Thursday): Any remaining clouds should quickly clear to the east. Winds are northwesterly at about 25 mph, adding to the cold weather. Despite the sun, highs only reach the mid to upper 40s. Confidence: high

Tonight: Clear skies and calm winds allow temperatures to drop quickly. Overnight lows range from the mid 20s to lower 30s. Confidence: high

tomorrow Friday): Skies remain sunny most of the morning, but clouds steadily increase in the afternoon. However, temperatures are rising back to near normal levels, with highs in the upper 40s to 50s as March begins. With gentle winds from the south at 5 to 10 mph, many come through the month like a lion – like a tabby cat. Confidence: high

Tomorrow night: Showers should start in the evening with fairly steady rain and then throughout the night. Overnight lows settle into the upper 30s to lower 40s. Confidence: medium-high

The rain continues Saturday Until midday and maybe even the afternoon. Expect about an inch of rain from this system by the time it ends. Even after the rain subsides, clouds will persist and continue until Saturday night. Highs range through the 50s and lows into the 40s. Confidence: medium-high

Sunday and Monday Seeing the return of the sun and the warmth of spring with it. Highs are mainly in the low 60s. Overnight lows are mostly in the mid to upper 40s. Confidence: medium-high
