While some welcome the warmth, others desire wintry weather – NBC Boston

Warmer-than-normal temperatures are good news for some New Englanders, but others are craving winter weather.

Leo J. Martin Golf Course in Weston, Massachusetts, is a busy place for golfers and cross-country skiers wrapping up the season.

“There's a group of guys I usually play with. We'll get dressed up and go out. It's really fun,” one golfer said.

The final days of February saw temperatures reach the high 50s and even 60s for some, marking the end of another warmer than usual winter.

NBC10 Boston meteorologist Pamela Gardner says the changing winter weather pattern reflects climate change across the country.

“We actually saw our first 100 degree high temperature across Central Texas yesterday,” Gardner said. “First 100 degree day in US in February.”

It's cooler Tuesday afternoon along the water in South Boston, and Sullivan's Restaurant still hasn't opened, despite the unseasonal weather.

“There is a generation of young people who don't know how to ski and snowboard outdoors,” one woman said.

The lack of snowfall is worrying, especially for those trying to make a living during the winter months.

“I miss the snow. I miss a lot of work right now. I hope we can get more snow before it's all over,” one man said.

At Weston Golf Course, warm weather creates an interesting wintry mix.

“You can ski, or you can play golf. Right after you ski, you can play a round of golf. It's great,” one man said.
