Republican Congressman Byron Donalds of Florida says he will not vote for government funding “if the border is not secured.”
Donalds said Meet the press He said Sunday that there is no point in funding the government if it cannot even do its basic job of securing America's borders, especially the U.S.-Mexico border.
It should be noted that Donalds is on Donald Trump's short list for vice president.

“The government’s first task is to secure the borders.”
Donalds' point about government funding and what the government should prioritize was simple, but absolutely valid.
AOL.com reported, “Donald responded to NBC's Kristen Welker on questions about whether he would be willing to shut down the government over border security. When asked if he would be willing to shut down the government, he instead focused on the claim that President Biden” Ready to close.” [it] On border security, though Biden has never indicated a willingness to shut down the government when funding runs out.
“Welker continued to press Donalds on the issue, but the Florida Republican stressed that he was willing to support funding the government as long as the border was secure,” AOL noted.
The story continued:
“I am willing to fund the government as long as our borders are secure. The first job of the government is to secure the borders. Any company that provides a service, if it does not provide you with a service, do you give it money? He said. “The answer is no. Christine, you're not even doing that.

Unfortunately for Donald, he has to deal with a Republican Senate. Republican Leader McConnell has already asked House Speaker Mike Johnson to “forget” the borders, because a foreign aid bill that sends tens of billions of dollars to Ukraine and Israel is “the only game in town.”
Donalds is on Trump's short list for vice president
Donald Trump recently revealed that he has a list, albeit a short one, of people he considers to be his running mate for his campaign.
Others included Tom Scott, Vivek Ramaswamy and… Byron Donalds.
While Donalds says no actual meetings or discussions have taken place between him and the Trump team, he has long been an outspoken supporter of Trump.
Donalds also said the following on Friday after his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC):
“I want to do everything to help take back the White House,” Donalds told the New York Post. “It's about making policies that work for the country and work for everyone.”
