The Andover location of the troubled spa chain appears to be on the verge of closing.
Earlier this month, the Boston Globe reported that Elizabeth Grady, a beauty school and salon chain, was “struggling to run its business” and was embroiled in legal battles with landlords and government regulators. The state closed the company's Medford Beauty School earlier this month without giving a reason.
No one responded at the Andover location Tuesday. The outgoing voicemail message, dated February 23, said there were “some staffing issues” and that the salon was not booking waxing appointments or taking online bookings.
“We do not have a supply of wax. There are no retail items as of.” [Friday]”,” the message said. “If you still want to leave a name and number, that's fine. We will try to get back to you.”
Lincoln Essex Oav LLC, the Andover store's owner of its space at 89 Main Street, declined to comment because it is involved in a lawsuit with Elizabeth Grady.
The newspaper said it contacted Elizabeth Grady's 11 locations in Massachusetts. Some stores did not respond, while others said they would change their branding. The article did not specify whether the Andover store would be closed or renamed.
