    The weather forecast for Canton calls for strong to severe thunderstorms

    Large hail and damaging wind gusts are possible Tuesday night, when strong to severe thunderstorms may move through the Canton area.  Tornadoes are possible in northwest and north-central Ohio.

    CANTON — A round of strong to severe thunderstorms is expected to develop and move eastward across the region tonight into Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service says. The main danger will be large hail and damaging wind gusts.

    The forecast covers north-central Ohio, northeastern Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania.

    Large hail is the main threat overnight for northwest and north-central Ohio, which faces an additional chance of a tornado or damaging winds tonight through early Wednesday.

    On Sunday and Monday, the Canton area is expected to witness sunny skies and temperatures reaching 68 degrees.

    Today's forecast for the Canton area calls for rain and thunderstorms possible, especially before 1 p.m. It will be mostly cloudy, with a high around 66 degrees. Winds will blow south at 10 to 14 mph with gusts up to 26 mph. The probability of rain is 60%. New rainfall amounts are expected to be less than a tenth of an inch, with higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

    Tonight, expect showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 5am, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 5am. The low temperature will be around 57. There will be south winds between 11 and 16 mph, with gusts up to 31 mph. The probability of rain is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and a half of an inch are possible.

    What is the weather forecast in Canton?

    Here's what to expect next:

    • Wednesday: Rain showers before 4pm, then a chance of snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. Temperatures will rise to near 63 by 8 a.m., then drop to around 36 during the rest of the day. Breezy, with south winds 16 to 23 mph becoming westerlies in the afternoon. Wind speeds could reach 39 mph. The probability of rain is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
    • Wednesday night: A chance of snow showers before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, then gradually clearing mostly, with a low around 23. Breezy, with westerly winds 17 to 22 mph, with gusts up to 34 mph. The chance of rain is 30%. Possibility of new snow accumulation of less than half an inch.
    • Thursday: Sunny, high near 38. West wind 11 to 14 mph. At night, the weather is mostly clear, and the minimum temperature is about 26 degrees.
    • Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 50. At night, a chance of rain showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. The chance of rain is 30%.
    • Saturday: Partly sunny, high around 57. At night, partly cloudy, low around 42.
    • Sunday: Mostly sunny, high temperature near 68. At night, partly cloudy, low around 49.
    • Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 68.
