WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) – Severe weather season is quickly approaching in Texoma, and before storms begin in the area, our team wants to make sure community members are prepared for weather events that could pose a threat.
The severe weather season begins in March in Texoma with a peak in severe thunderstorm activity that typically occurs in April and May before becoming more sporadic in the summer months.
The Texoma Weather Service's KFDX, KJTL and Texoma's Homepage are partnering with several Ace Hardware stores in the area to ensure community members are prepared ahead of Texoma's severe weather season.
Members of the KFDX and KJTL weather team, including meteorologists and weather spotters, will be at the following locations between 4pm and 6:30pm on the following dates:
- Thursday 29 February — Bowie Lumber (Ace Hardware), 602 W. Wise Street, Bowie, Texas, 76230
- Tuesday 5 March — Ace Hardware of Vernon, 2806 Wilbarger Road, Vernon, TX 76384
- Thursday 14 March — Ace Hardware of Burke, 401 E. 3rd St., Burkeburnett, TX 76354
- Tuesday 19 March — Ace Hardware of Iowa Park, 200 W. Bank Street, Iowa Park, TX 76367
- Tuesday 26 March — Ace Hardware of Wichita Falls, 4031 Sports Street, WF, TX, 76308
During these events, participating Ace Hardware locations will offer a special flat rate of $35 toward the purchase of a Midland Weather radio and battery.
Community members who own a Midland Weather Radio can bring their weather radio for a free battery replacement.
In addition to being able to meet members of the KFDX and KJTL weather staff, residents will have the opportunity to assist our meteorologists and storm spotters with their Midland Weather Radio programming.
