The Venezuelan illegal alien arrested and charged with the murder of 22-year-old University of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley is accused of beating her so badly that he “seriously” mutilated her skull.
An illegal alien is accused of brutally murdering Riley
Jose Antonio Ibarra, 26, is not believed to have known Riley before he kidnapped and killed her as she went jogging on her university campus last Thursday, the New York Post reported. While her cause of death was previously listed only as blunt force trauma, the new documents state that Ibarra caused “great bodily harm with an instrument” without going into further detail.
Ibarra was also charged with aggravated battery for “grossly mutilating her body…by mutilating her skull,” according to an affidavit obtained by Fox News. The illegal immigrant is also accused of preventing Riley “from making or completing a 911 call” with the intent to “harm” when he kidnapped her while jogging, that affidavit states.
After killing Riley, Ibarra was accused of dragging her body to a secluded area, with the affidavit supporting the charge of concealing the student's death.
Riley's murder happened between 9am and 1pm last Thursday, and her roommate called police when she didn't return from an early morning run. University of Georgia police officers discovered her body in a wooded area along a road next to the school's indoor fields just before 1 p.m. that afternoon.

ICE reveals the history of Ibara
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spokeswoman Lindsay Williams told The Daily Beast that Ibarra is a Venezuelan citizen who crossed into the United States near El Paso, Texas, in 2022. After “parole and release for further processing,” Ibarra headed to the city of New York. Where he was arrested the following year.
“The NYPD released him before a detainee could be released,” Williams added.
Ibarra reportedly lives in an apartment with his brother just a mile from where Riley was killed. Ibarra and his brother are currently being held without bail in the Athens-Clarke County Jail.
U.S. Rep. Houston Gaines (R-Ga.) took to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, on Monday to claim that Ibarra was wanted on an arrest warrant in Georgia to invalidate his court appearance on a robbery charge in December.
“ICE confirmed what we already knew: Jose Ibarra was in the country illegally,” Gaines wrote. “What the media didn’t mention was that he was cited in Athens for shoplifting in October — and there was a bench warrant for his arrest for failing to appear in court.”

Riley's loved ones are mourning her
Riley Riley transferred from the University of Georgia to nearby Augusta University School of Nursing last year.
“Lakin was a wonderful daughter, sister, friend and overall public person. Her family said in a statement that her love for the Lord was embodied in every aspect of her life. “We will miss her every day, but we promise to honor her life moving forward in a very big way,” he added.
They added: “During this most difficult time, we ask that you respect our privacy, and provide us with the time and space necessary to grieve our daughter's life that was tragically ended.”
Riley will be honored at a funeral on Friday.
This is unfortunately what happens when our borders are as open as they were under President Joe Biden. The media will no doubt try to sweep Riley's murder under the rug as best they can, but it's undeniable that her blood is partly on Biden's hands.
Please join us in saying a prayer for Riley's loved ones during this tragic time.
