    Could early spring start in March in southeast Michigan?

    The National Weather Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have issued updated weekly weather forecast guidance for the next 8-14 days across the country. Forecasts are based on probability against normal averages, and can help show potential trends in long-term forecasts.

    Here's what the February 22, 2024 forecast says about Michigan. The forecast is valid from March 1 to 7, 2024.

    Michigan temperature forecast for the first week of March

    • If you're hoping for a warm March, the odds are in your favor: NOAA forecasts show a 90-100% chance that Michigan will see above-average temperatures in the first week of March.

    • The average high temperature in March for the Detroit area is 45 degrees.

    Michigan precipitation forecast for the next 8-14 days

    • NOAA's forecast shows roughly normal chances of average precipitation in metro Detroit, but there is a 33-40% chance of seeing above average precipitation in the rest of Michigan and most of the Midwest.
