CARTERVILLE (WSIL) – A windy but warm day for all of us today. Temperatures have reached the mid 60s for many of us with some gusty winds coming from the south before the next cold front. Temperatures should drop into the mid-upper 40s tonight for all of us.
Winds will pick up again for your day on Monday helping to bring a warmer air mass as temperatures for the second time this winter soar into the 70s. We'll also increase cloud cover a bit later Monday.
Tuesday brings a chance of morning showers and some storms but they should remain below severe limits. It will also be very windy throughout the day, with winds likely reaching 35-40 mph. We will stay dry after the morning showers until late evening. This is the time when we expect the cold front to arrive with thunderstorms ahead of it. Some of these storms will be strong to severe. At the moment, the situation does not appear to be widely serious. But we will at least see isolated storms capable of producing damaging winds, large hail, and even an isolated tornado.
Since these storms will move primarily during the night, make sure you have a way to receive warnings throughout the night that will be able to wake you up if necessary.
Stay up to date with the latest developments at WSIL, and we'll be monitoring you up to and during the event to make sure you're all safe!
