Apart from the existing trough-shaped western disturbance, a new system will affect the western Himalayan region from February 26. Under the influence of these systems, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning are very likely to spread over isolated areas. Includes Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad on February 26 and Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on February 26 and 27.
Jet Stream winds with maximum speeds of up to 145 knots prevail over northeastern India. Under its influence, scattered light/moderate rain/snowfall is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on February 24 and 25.
The cyclonic circulation is located over southern Telangana and a trough of this cyclonic circulation extends to southern Tamil Nadu and another cyclonic circulation is located over southern Chhattisgarh. The cyclone is likely to strengthen at lower levels over the Bay of Bengal over the next few days.
As a result, light to moderate rains are expected over West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand from February 24 to 27. Moreover, scattered light to moderate rains accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds (up to 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph) are expected at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh between 26th and 28th. February.
Hail storm activity is also possible in isolated parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand on February 26.
