    LUBBOCK, Texas (KLBK) – Here is your updated forecast from the First Weather Warning Center KLBK:

    Tonight:
    The weather is expected to be mostly clear this evening and night. The weather will be breezy at times and more moderate. Low temperatures will range from the lower 40s to lower 50s. The wind will be southwesterly, at a speed of 10 to 20 knots.

    Sunday:
    Weather is expected to be mostly sunny, breezy and warmer on Sunday across the Southern Plains and Rolling Plains. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s to mid 80s. Winds will be westerly, speeding from 15 to 25 knots, with gusts reaching speeds of up to 35 knots.

    Lubbock's record high for Sunday is 86 degrees since 1989. My high forecast is 84 degrees for Sunday.

    Expanded forecast:
    There is a very small chance of rain on Thursday morning in some areas. Otherwise, the extended forecast period remains generally dry.

    High temperatures on Sunday will be much warmer with highs in the upper 70s to middle 80s. Highs on Monday will range from the mid-80s to low-90s, with record warmth expected in some areas. Daytime highs will drop some on Tuesday, but will still be warm with highs in the mid 70s to mid 80s. Wednesday will be cooler with low to mid 50s. Mild weather will begin to return Thursday with highs in the mid 50s to mid 60s. High temperatures on Friday will return to the lower to mid 70s. Highs expected on Saturday will be in the mid-70s.

    We'll flirt with record highs for Lubbock on Sunday and Tuesday. We are likely to break the record on Monday. Sunday's record high is 86 degrees from 1989. Monday's record high is 85 degrees from 1918. Tuesday's record high is 81 degrees from 2006.

    Low temperatures on Sunday will range from the middle 40s to the lower 50s. Morning lows on Monday will range from the mid 40s to mid 50s. Lows on Tuesday will range from the mid 50s to mid 60s. Wednesday morning lows will become cooler and range from the mid 20s to mid 30s. Lows on Thursday will range from the middle 20s to lower 30s. Friday morning lows will be in the lower to middle 30s. Expected morning lows on Saturday will be milder and range from the upper 30s to middle 40s.

    Drought update:
    There are still no notable changes in drought conditions across the Southern Plains and Rolling Plains, according to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) update released Thursday, February 22. A good portion of the Southern Plains and all of the Southern Plains and Rolling Plains remain classified as drought-free. Moderate drought (D1) conditions continue to be reported across parts of the south-northwest Plains. Meanwhile, abnormal drought (D0) continues to be reported across the northwest Southern Plains, far western Southern Plains, and parts of the southwestern Plains.

    Sunday night: The weather will be mostly clear to partly cloudy, with a light breeze at times and more moderate. Lows range from the mid-40s to mid-50s. West winds 10-20 knots per hour.

    Monday: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy, windy and very warm. Recording temperatures for some areas. Scattered dust late morning into the afternoon. Highs range from the mid 80s to lower 90s. Winds are west-southwesterly 20 to 30 knots per hour, with gusts up to 45 knots per hour.
