    LUBBOCK, Texas (KLBK) – Here is your updated forecast from the First Weather Warning Center KLBK:

    today:
    Sunny to partly cloudy weather is expected this Friday across the Southern Plains and Rolling Plains. It will be a mild day with light winds. High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 60s. The wind will be northwesterly, at a speed of 5 to 15 knots.

    Tonight:
    The weather is expected to be clear to partly cloudy this evening and tonight. Tonight will be mild in most areas. Low temperatures will range from the lower 30s to the middle 40s. The wind will be southwesterly, at a speed of 5 to 10 knots.

    Sunset this evening at 6:38 PM CST.

    Saturday:
    It's expected to be sunny to partly cloudy and warmer on Saturday across the Southern Plains and Rolling Plains, and the weather will turn breezy again. High temperatures will be in the lower to middle 70s. The wind will be southwesterly, at a speed of 15 to 25 knots.

    Expanded forecast:
    Dry weather will remain across the Southern Plains and Rolling Plains through the extended forecast period at this time.

    High temperatures on Friday will be in the mid to upper 60s. Temperatures will start to warm again on Saturday with highs in the 70s to mid 70s. Sunday will be warmer with highs in the upper 70s to middle 80s. Highs on Monday will range from the low to upper 80s. It won't be as warm on Tuesday with highs dropping into the lower 70s to lower 80s range. Highs on Wednesday will be cooler and range in the mid to upper 50s. Highs expected on Thursday will be in the 60s to mid 60s.

    Low temperatures on Friday and Saturday will range from the 30s to the lower 40s. Lows Sunday morning will be in the mid to upper 40s. Morning lows on Monday will range from the upper 40s to middle 50s. Lows on Tuesday will range from the lower 50s to upper 50s. Forecast lows on Wednesday will range from the lower 30s to lower 40s.

    Drought update:
    There are still no notable changes in drought conditions across the Southern Plains and Rolling Plains, according to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) update released Thursday, February 22. A good portion of the Southern Plains and all of the Southern Plains and Rolling Plains remain classified as drought-free. Moderate drought (D1) conditions continue to be reported across parts of the south-northwest Plains. Meanwhile, abnormal drought (D0) continues to be reported across the northwest Southern Plains, far western Southern Plains, and parts of the southwestern Plains.
