DENVER (KDVR) — Sunny skies have returned to Denver weather just in time for the weekend, and as the dry weather continues, it will get warmer, too.
According to Pinpoint Weather, Colorado's most accurate forecast, the average high temperature in Denver is around 48 degrees this time of year. Next weekend temperatures are expected to be about 15 degrees above normal for the metro area and Front Range.
Tonight's weather: Stellar and cold
Skies will be clear in most parts of the state on Friday evening. There may be some clouds hovering over canyon sites in the Colorado mountains. It will also be cold, with mainly west winds up to 20 mph.
Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing statewide. The coldest lows overnight will be in the teens, with single-digit readings in the mountains.
Weather tomorrow: sunny, breezy and warm
The weekend starts with plenty of sunshine on Saturday. It will be breezy at times, with westerly winds continuing to gust up to 20 mph.
Temperatures are expected to rise into the 60s across the eastern Plains and metro Denver. It will be a mild day in the mountains as well, with readings in the 40s in most places.
Looking Ahead: Next chance of rain and snow
Warm and windy weather will continue Sunday and Monday. If the winds become strong enough, there may be warnings of high fire danger, given the warm and dry pattern.
The warmest day looks to be Sunday in the upper 60s. The record is 71 set in 1950.
The Pinpoint Weather team is tracking the next cold front arriving early Tuesday. The cooler air won't arrive in the Denver metro area until very late Tuesday into Wednesday.
Rain and snow are expected during the day, with light grass accumulation along the Front Range. Roads will still be warm compared to previous days in the 60s. It looks like most of the cold front moisture will dry out by late Tuesday afternoon before cold air arrives that night.
It becomes sunny again on Wednesday and quickly returns to the 60s for early March.
