“Introducing Air India’s new safety film, inspired by India’s rich and diverse dance traditions,” she added.

For centuries, Indian classical dance and folk art forms have served as a vehicle for storytelling and education. Today, they tell another story, the story of safety on board.

The video has been carefully designed to engage passengers and showcase the diversity and depth of Indian culture while providing essential safety information, an Air India statement said.

“The video integrates safety instructions with mudras or dance expressions in eight diverse dance forms – Bharatnatyam, Bihu, Kathak, Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Odissi, Ghoomar and Gidha – from across the country,” the statement said.

Each distinct dance form offers a specific set of instructions, providing information to riders in an engaging and culturally immersive way.

'Safety Mudras' has been developed in collaboration with the trio of Prasun Joshi of McCann International Group, musician Shankar Mahadevan, and film director Bharatbala.

“As the country’s flag bearer and a long-standing patron of Indian art and culture, Air India is pleased to present an artwork designed to deliver essential safety instructions while showcasing India’s rich cultural diversity to travelers around the world. Our guests will enjoy it,” said Campbell Wilson, CEO and Managing Director, Air India. India: “They find this in-flight safety video more immersive, informative, and a warm welcome to India from the moment they board.”

The safety video will initially be accessed on Air India's recently introduced A350 aircraft, equipped with the latest in-flight entertainment screens. It will be gradually rolled out on other aircraft in Air India's fleet.
