London: The King was pictured returning to work for the first time since revealing he had cancer, telling British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak that goodwill cards and goodwill messages had made him cry.
Charles III, 75, shook hands with Sunak on Wednesday afternoon (London time) as he arrived at the Palace's audience room for their traditional weekly meeting.
He was seen heading to church in Sandringham and driving to and from Clarence House in London, but this was the first sighting of him in an official setting since his cancer diagnosis was announced more than two weeks ago.
When Sunak entered the room he said: “It’s great to see you looking so good,” and the King joked: “It’s all done by mirrors.”
Then he said to the king: “Well, we are all behind you, the country is behind you.”

The king replied: You are good. I have received so many wonderful letters and cards, it makes me cry most of the time.
Sunak said it was “good to see the spotlight being shone” on the disease. The King replied: “I heard there has been a lot of interest and interest in these major and wonderful cancer charities, many of which I have been a patron of for years.”
The rest of their meeting, a traditional opportunity for the politically neutral king to talk about current affairs of state with the sitting prime minister, was held in private as usual.
