Polls show that Donald Trump is very likely to be the Republican Party's 2024 presidential nominee, barring anything completely unexpected.
It also shows he has a good chance of winning in November, with several polls showing incumbent Joe Biden trailing by several points.
Now the question turns to the Republican Party ticket – who will Trump choose as his running mate?
He touched on this recently.

Vice President Tim Scott?
Trump says Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina is on his short list to be his running mate.
“Former President Donald Trump suggested Tuesday that there are at least six names on his short list for vice president — a list that ranges from South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard,” Politico reported.
Gabbard, the only one named, was a Democrat elected congressman from Hawaii.
During a Fox News town hall event, host Laura Ingraham asked Trump about six potential vice presidential choices: DeSantis, Scott, biotech entrepreneur and former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, And Trump. Gabbard,” Politico noted.
The story continued:
“Are they all on your shortlist?” she asked.
“They are,” Trump said, before adding: “Frankly, all of these people are good.” “They are all good, they are all strong.”
Trump is known to speak spontaneously, and it would be surprising if he chose DeSantis. Trump and DeSantis spent a year attacking each other, before DeSantis dropped out of the presidential race after a disappointing second-place finish in the Iowa caucuses. But DeSantis has since endorsed Trump. Trump also stopped attacking the governor and dropped his “DeSanctimonious” nickname for him.
On Tuesday evening, Trump singled out Scott, who was in the audience, for the highest praise. Scott, who dropped out of the Republican primary last year and later endorsed Trump, had been campaigning aggressively for Trump in his home state ahead of the South Carolina primary on February 24.

Scott's campaigns are harder for Trump than he did for himself
“A lot of people are talking about that gentleman over there,” Trump adds of Scott, pointing to the senator. “He was a great defender.”
Trump continued: “I have to say that in a very positive way, Tim Scott, he has been much better for me than he has been for himself.” I watched his campaign, and he doesn't like to talk about himself. But boy is he talking about Trump. …I called him and said, 'Tim, you're better for me than you were for yourself.'
Tim Scott has been an outspoken defender of Donald Trump.
He would likely be an excellent choice to partner with the next president, should his nominee win.
