Temperatures across Colorado will cool temporarily before returning to spring conditions over the weekend.
Thursday will be snowy across the mountains and along the I-70 corridor in the Western Slope, with a winter weather warning in effect for a small area of northwestern Colorado. Accumulation is expected to be relatively low, with a maximum of 4 inches expected in the hardest-hit areas to the north, near Steamboat Springs.
Roads are expected to be slippery, but the snow is expected to slow down before the afternoon.
It will be too warm for snow on the front range, although scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible by the afternoon. Urban communities near mountains may see relatively strong wind gusts of up to 35 mph.
Warm temperatures should return over the weekend, but the nice weather is not expected to last. The National Weather Service said a storm system could reach the state on Monday, bringing “impactful accumulations and significant travel impacts” to the mountains.
