Bored at My Grandamas House – the project of Leeds-based singer-songwriter Amber Strawbridge – has announced its debut album, Show and tell. Follow up until 2021 Sometimes I forget that you're human too It will be released on June 7 via CLUE Records/EMI North. It includes the previously released single “Inhibitions,” and the title track was also released today. Check it out along with the album cover and tracklist below.
“Show & Tell is a completely sarcastic song about being the opposite of an open book and all the little specific things about me that I sometimes wish were different,” Strawbridge explained in a statement. “Overall, it's about me being a cautious person and being afraid of potentially being vulnerable and realizing that vulnerability is actually a beautiful thing and something I shouldn't be afraid of.”
Discussing the album, she said:
The main overall theme of this album is connection. Connecting with myself, connecting with the world and connecting with the people I love around me. This album is for me first and foremost and was a way for me to process internally.
The origin of these paths all stem from my desire to understand these connections and process my feelings surrounding them. The album covers themes such as the power of queer love, humanity, “delusions of grandeur,” meditation, and purpose.
It wouldn't be wise to say that I haven't evolved or changed much since my EP. I experienced more, wondered more, felt more and allowed myself to be more vulnerable – which I hope translates throughout the album.
