It is almost impossible nowadays to imagine life without a smartphone by your side. Smartphones have become deeply ingrained in everyday tasks, communications, entertainment, and more. However, although they have become indispensable, smartphones as we know them are unlikely to last forever.

The dizzying speed of technological change almost guarantees that smartphones will one day be replaced by something more advanced. The question is – what could it be? Based on current technology trends, research, and future speculation, experts have some ideas about what a post-smartphone future could look like.

Before we delve into successors, it's worth thinking about why smartphones won't rule forever. One of the main reasons is that technology tends to develop on an exponential growth curve.
