The New York Police Department (NYPD) sparked outrage across the political spectrum after it decided to showcase its dance team on a local news station last week.
The dance team, founded in 2022, rehearses twice a week and performs around the city as part of “community outreach.” This includes schools and parades.
Autumn-Wren Martinez, head of the dance team, along with some other members of the dance group, joined WPIX-11 on Thursday to discuss the group. Ren Martinez explained that one of the reasons the band exists (other than taxpayer money) is to help members “take the pressure off” the pressures of law enforcement. She also said having the dance team enables officers to make friends.
Rene Martinez went on to say that all members of the NYPD, including men, are allowed to join, and they have limited criteria. “As long as you have the passion, that's what we care about the most,” Martinez said.
After the discussion, the dance team proceeded to put on an incredibly awkward performance while dancing to “Club Can't Handle Me” by rapper Flo Rida. The dance starts at about the 2:45 mark of the video.

The job of the police is to protect and serve, not entertain. This ruse becomes more nefarious as New York City sinks under the weight of illegal aliens flooding into New York City and terrorizing the residents.
Judging by social media, this PR action by the NYPD backfired as users brutally attacked the ridiculous idea of a dance team. Even AOC sank throughout the department.
