It's expected to be sunny to partly cloudy and warmer weather is expected Tuesday across the Southern Plains and Rolling Plains. High temperatures will range from the mid 70s to lower 80s. It will be windy at times with west winds 10 to 20 mph.

The weather is expected to be mostly clear this evening and tonight. It will be another mild night. Low temperatures range from the upper 30s to the middle 40s. The wind will be west-southwesterly, at a speed of 10 to 15 knots.

Wednesday:
The weather is expected to be sunny to partly cloudy, and it is expected to be very warm and breezy on Wednesday across the Southern Plains and Rolling Plains. Intermittent dust is expected in the late morning and afternoon. There will also be elevated fire weather concerns due to the warm, dry and breezy weather. We may tie or break Lubbock's daily record (84 degrees since 1996). High temperatures will be in the lower to middle 80s. Winds will be southwesterly at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph.

Dry weather will remain across the Southern Plains and Rolling Plains through the extended forecast period at this time.
High temperatures on Tuesday will be warmer and range from the mid 70s to the lower 80s. We'll be flirting with record high temperatures on Wednesday with low to mid 80s temperatures forecast. Highs on Thursday will drop into the lower to mid 60s. Highs on Friday will be in the mid 60s. Warm weather returns Saturday with highs in the upper 60s to middle 70s. Highs expected on Sunday will be warmer and range from the mid 70s to 80s.
Low temperatures Wednesday morning will be in the upper 30s to middle 40s. Lows Thursday morning will range from the lower to upper 40s. Lows on Friday and Saturday morning will range from the mid 30s to mid 40s. Forecast lows on Sunday will be in the lower to middle 40s.
Drought update:
There are still no notable changes in drought conditions across the Southern Plains and Rolling Plains, according to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) update released Thursday, February 15. Most of the undulating plains and a good portion of the southern plains remain classified as drought-free. Moderate drought (D1) conditions continue to be reported across parts of the south-northwest Plains. Meanwhile, abnormal drought (D0) continues to be reported across the northwest Southern Plains, far western Southern Plains, parts of the southern Southern Plains and parts of the Southern Rolling Plains.
