The weather will be calm for the next few days, with a large area of high pressure building up in the Northeast.

Winds continue to add a touch to the air, but will gradually ease throughout Monday. Expect mostly sunny skies and near-season high temperatures in the 30s (20s N).

With clear skies and light winds Monday night, overnight lows will drop into the teens and single digits for many, and even below zero in parts of far northern New Hampshire and Maine.

We'll have a nice rebound on Tuesday, in the 30s again (20s farther north) with plenty of sunshine.

As high pressure slowly turns eastward through midweek, we will see a gradual but noticeable rise with highs reaching 40 degrees on both sides by Wednesday and into the 40s on Thursday.

Our next disturbance will approach by late Thursday, allowing for increased and denser clouds and the chance of some rain and snow by the evening in western New England. We'll all be in danger of rain Thursday night: With marginal temperatures, we could mix in with some wet snow inland before a quick transition to rain.

Areas of rain will continue on Friday, with snow limited to far northern New England and the mountains, where several inches could accumulate by Saturday morning.

Otherwise, the weekend looks to be fairly quiet, with highs reaching 40 on both sides and a chance of snow showers on Saturday.

A push of moderate air will arrive to start next week with highs expected to be in the mid 40s to low 50s by Wednesday. The warmth comes with an increased risk of showers Tuesday night into Wednesday as seen in our exclusive 10-day forecast.
