Orlando, Florida. – Since Saturday morning, 1-2.5 inches of rain has fallen and will continue to increase until tonight.
Melbourne broke the old daily rainfall record with 1.2 inches of rain as of 4 p.m., but that number will continue to increase through tonight along with rainfall totals across Central Florida.
There is still plenty of moisture in the atmosphere as a low pressure area moves from south Florida to the northeast along our coast.
This will remain the focal point of rain until it moves northeast away from central Florida during tomorrow.
Overnight and into early Monday another half inch to one and a half inches of rain is expected. Moderate to heavy rain is still possible, which may lead to localized flooding in low-lying areas.
Overcast skies remain closed throughout the night. It will be cold with lows reaching the 50s. Expect the low 50s northwest of Interstate 4. The rest of Central Florida will remain in the low 50s while the Brevard Coast will drop to the mid 50s overnight.
President's Day begins with scattered showers that continue until midday.
High pressure will promote the entry of cool, dry air throughout the day. Expect more sunshine by the afternoon with highs in the low to mid 60s.
Winds continue to cause problems along the coast. A wind advisory has been issued for Volusia and Brevard counties until 7 a.m. tomorrow.
Minor coastal flooding will occur mainly at times of high tide. Boating and surfing conditions also remain hazardous.
Expect cool days in the upper 60s through midweek with plenty of sunshine. Some rain will return by Friday ahead of the next cold front. Friday highs climb into the upper 70s, but heading into the weekend, expect highs to reach the upper 60s to upper 70s.
The good news is that next weekend won't be a complete wash.
