(KTEN) – A sports gambling bill is having some difficulty crossing the finish line in Oklahoma.
Governor Kevin Stitt is still pushing his plan to legalize sports betting across the state. Oklahoma tribes — which pay the state between 4 and 10 percent of net gaming revenues — oppose the legalization of sports gambling in Oklahoma.
Along with California and Minnesota, Oklahoma remains one of the tribal gaming markets that has not yet legalized sports betting.
Under the updated tribal gaming compacts, retail betting will be conducted by federally recognized tribes, with a 15 percent tax.
