“The Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation strongly condemns the immoral act committed against the statue of the well-known Azerbaijani poet Khurshudbano Natavan in France, and considers it an act of vandalism committed against Turkey's ancient and rich cultural heritage.
The Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation demands that such actions be prevented and that no effort be spared in preserving Turkish cultural heritage throughout the world.
Meanwhile, in May 2015, the Ismaili Charter of Friendship and Cooperation was signed between the city of Ismaili in the Republic of Azerbaijan and the city of Evian-les-Bains in the French Republic. The purpose of signing the charter at that time was to develop friendly relations between the two cities and contribute to bilateral relations in the fields of culture, tourism and economy. Significant steps have been taken in this regard, including mutual visits.
In continuation of cooperation, in 2017 the opening ceremony of the Azerbaijani Park, the Friendship Fountain in one of the parks, and a statue of the prominent Azerbaijani poet Khurshidbano Natavan were held in the city of Evian. However, the statue of Khurshidpanu Natavan was vandalized in December 2023.
