Abu Dhabi– Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi was honored to host French Minister of Culture Rachida Dati. As part of her official visit to the United Arab Emirates, Minister Dati participated in a panel discussion entitled “Culture for All: What Model for Tomorrow?” At the university, which was held in cooperation with the French Institute in the United Arab Emirates. The event not only highlighted the diversity and richness of cultures, but also underscored the university's commitment to promoting open dialogue and critical thinking.
The French Minister's visit comes in the presence of representatives and directors of prestigious cultural institutions such as the Louvre Museum, Versailles, the National Heritage Institute, the French Museums Agency, and the presence of the European Minister of Culture in France. Montenegro Cetinje Maša Vlaović contributes to strengthening Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi as one of the main multicultural actors in the UAE linking education and culture.
During her speech, Minister Dati stressed the importance of the relationship between culture and education, saying: “I am pleased to confirm that a new momentum is forming here at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi with a new academic project that fully meets the expectations of the United Arab Emirates. The panel discussion addressed the paramount importance of culture in shaping and defining society. Renowned speakers include Maysaa Qaraa, Artistic Director at Berklee Abu Dhabi; Cécile Herrmann, CEO and co-founder of Culture Emulsion; and Dr. Christoph Mulherat, Director of the Department of Archeology and Art History at SUAD, who specializes in ancient textile art. The session highlighted the important role that culture plays in our world, through performing arts, heritage, cultural mediation and architecture.
