Jeddah: The winners of the Second Kingdom Prize for Photography were announced at a ceremony held in Jeddah on Sunday, held by the Visual Arts Authority of the Ministry of Culture.
Winners were selected from a group of aspiring and experienced photographers who submitted a series of images reflecting the theme of 'We Tell Stories'.
After an evaluation by a panel of local and international experts, five entries were selected to showcase the beauty, diversity and distinct perspectives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Each winning artist received a cash prize and vouchers worth 40,000 Saudi riyals ($10,600).
The winners and their works are Abdullah Al-Sheikh’s “I Am from This Earth” series, which depicts the Al-Ahsa Oasis; Amna Al-Hayek’s “Women of Qatif” series, which depicts urban life in Qatif; – “Ibrahim Al-Milad – Life in Color” series by Summer Vow, which highlights the life of an artist in Qatif. The “Saudi Symphony” series by Muhammad Al-Jarabi reflects the merging of time and art in Riyadh. And the series “Ain Al-Jawhariya” by Zuhair Al-Tarifi, which depicts the essence of a historical spring in Al-Ahsa.
Congratulating the winners, Dina Amin, CEO of the Visual Arts Authority, said: “We are pleased to unveil the wonderful stories captured by the winners of the Kingdom Photography Award. These visual narrators skillfully capture the essence of Saudi Arabia, with each series telling a unique story.
“The exceptional artworks presented through the award demonstrate the importance of such initiatives in providing a unique platform to discover new talent and grow the visual arts sector in the Kingdom.”

The winning artworks will be displayed alongside the works of professional photographers at the “Al-Ahsa Hasna” exhibition, which is being held in the Jameel district of Jeddah until March 2.
Open to the public and free to enter, the exhibition is a celebration of visual stories showcasing a diverse range of narratives captured by talented photographers in Saudi Arabia.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a series of activities, including panel discussions and practical workshops.
