4 weather warning – Saturday: Partly cloudy skies, cool and breezy. As few snowflakes as possible. High: 27. Winds: northwest 5 – 15 mph, gusting to 25 mph.

Saturday night: Mostly cloudy skies. Some chips possible, continued breezy. Low: 23. Wind: Southwest 5-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Sunday: A mix of sunshine, clouds, and some flakes possible north of Metro Detroit. Persistent cold. High: 39. Wind: Southwest 5-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy sky. Low: 25. Northwest 5-15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

Monday (President's Day): Partly cloudy skies, high temperatures. High: 41.

After a few snow showers end last week, we will keep some wintry weather in our forecast looking forward to the weekend before the warming trend moves in looking forward to next week.

The northwesterly flow will continue throughout the start of the weekend on Saturday, and this will keep some snowflakes in the forecast from time to time especially north of metro Detroit, along with gusty winds and cold temperatures. High temperatures are only heading into the upper 20s by Saturday afternoon, which is a few degrees below where we should be at this time in mid-February. Expect wind gusts of up to 25 to 30 mph as we head through the day as well.

We keep some cloud cover in the forecast overnight, and expect mostly cloudy skies with a few snowflakes possible, remaining cool and breezy. Overnight lows drop into the lower 20s in the city, and we wouldn't rule out some teens outside of metro Detroit. Wind chills will reach the single digits to the low end of the teens when you wake up Sunday morning.

As the weekend ends, high pressure will begin to move toward the region, and will begin to break up the cloud cover a bit and bring us filtered sunshine. This northwesterly flow will change to a southwesterly flow and will raise our temperatures by at least 10 degrees or better through Sunday afternoon. But high winds will remain with gusts of up to 25 to 30 mph as we work through the end of the weekend. High temperatures are heading into the upper 30s Sunday afternoon.

Looking ahead to the beginning of next week, high pressure will dominate the weather forecast on Monday and Tuesday. The southerly flow will also heat us up on both days, with high temperatures heading into the lower 40s on Presidents Day on Monday, then into the upper 40s by the time we get to Tuesday.

Our next chance for rain in the area is by mid-week on Wednesday, so we expect clouds to increase through Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with scattered showers throughout Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening. High temperatures are heading toward the lower 50s, so they will be well above average by midweek.

We continue the expected cloud cover through Thursday as a cold front pushes through the region, and high temperatures, heading into the upper 40s by Thursday afternoon, before some sunshine returns to the forecast by the end of the week, along with cold temperatures as we head into the upper 30s by Weekend is Friday.
